What is a comprehensive lead inspection?

A comprehensive lead inspection is an inspection conducted in compliance with Rhode Island Department of Health Regulation 23-24.6 Pb. This inspection is performed by a licensed Environmental Lead Inspector and is designed to thoroughly evaluate the presence of lead hazards within a property.

What does the inspection include?

During the inspection, the Environmental Lead Inspector conducts a room-by-room, substrate-by-substrate evaluation of the property. The inspection includes the collection and analysis of multiple environmental samples, which may include:

Paint samples

Dust samples

Water samples
-
Soil samples

Why is this inspection required?
​
A comprehensive lead inspection is required in order to obtain a:

Lead Safe Certificate, or
-
Lead Free Certificate

Without this inspection and report, these certifications cannot be issued.

What kind of report is produced?
​
The inspection results in a detailed written report, typically 15 to 20 pages in length, with approximately one page dedicated to each room of the property. The report documents findings, sampling results, and identified lead hazards, if any.
